ChocolaTea – A Money Suck

On the recommendation of a friend I decided to give ChocolaTea in Portage a try. I’d heard about it before from other friends, though previously I’d been told it wasn’t all that.  Probably this was before they had any really good vendors.  Here’s the haul:

  •  16oz Bubble Tea (Thai Tea) – 5.39

  • 835 Darjeeling Silver Needle – 3.81

  • 507 Chocolate Mint – 3.02

  • 855 Elephant Tusk Kenya Silver Needle – $6.69

  • 552 Decaf Cream Caramel

  • 319 Green Earl Grey – 2.34

  • 501 Paris – 2.34

  • 931 Wuyi Oolong – 5.04

  • 301 Kukicha – 6.13

  • 546 Darjeeling Dew – 1.93

  • 555 Candy Cane Lane – 4.03

  • 532 Monkey Picked Gold – 4.28

  • 390 Bangkok – 3.54

  • 585 Chocolate Macadamia Coconut Cream – 4.22

  • 936 Pouchong Oolong – 2.21

  • 430 Carmel Pu-erh – 6.95

  • 560 Pineapple Mango – 2.32

  • 576 Thai Tea – 1.82

  • 513 Lavender Lychee – 3.42

  • 586 Cherry Chocolate Cordial – 4.18

  • 518 Black Dragon Pearls – 5.46

  • 519 Polly’s Pumpkin Pie – 2.36

  • 934 Formosa Superior Oolong – 6.08

  • 549 Kamba Berry – 6.62

Total – $99.51 (tax of only .32!)

I brought home two that didn’t make it onto the receipt (588 Cream Brûlée and 325 White Vanilla Grapefruit), and I can’t find the First Flush Kukicha they charged me for (which looked and smelled REALLY good) but it might have fallen out in the car.

The Bubble Thai Tea was excellent but they filled the cup with ice (after being asked not to) so it was a let down.  I haven’t had a chance to try any of the loose leaf yet, but I’ll definitely make an update when that info becomes available.  Based on my smell tests when i bagged them, I’m most looking forward to Carmel Pu-erh, Polly’s Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Chocolate Cordial. :)
