I don’t know the exactly location within Nepal where this specific tea was raised, so I’ll be comparing it to a known tea, the finest quality Everest Hand-Rolled Tip from Sindhupalchok District (since the coloring and description are very similar).
In aroma, we’re treated to a bright furry Golden Tip Black (not unlike a Keemun), though other notes are hard to pinpoint. In texture, a full-leaf orthodox Black with a deep grit. In flavor, Nepalese Golden Tip is flush with a gooey, barky fine body. After rolling it around in my mouth for a bit i decided it’s all kinds of dirty and addictive (like any good TG (tippy golden (not Throbbing Gristle, sorry), there now you’re learning tea rating codes xD) drinking a full cup in one go will give you quite a buzz) with a peaty aftertaste. As a high-altitude grown Himalayan Black, the tea is smooth and refreshing with little astringency. I don’t think it stands up to a Yunnan Golden Tip (just my opinion), but it’s certainly all kinds of delicious.
