I wish i had more LODO teas and tisanes to review. They are sadly prohibitively expensive and today I opened the last tin I currently have that i hadn’t previously opened (they tend to be best when first unsealed). Indeed, today’s tisane, Sweet Dreams is itself Limited Edition. I’m sure many of those have come and gone without my being able to review them. :/
Sweet Dreams has an interesting yellow-gold liquor color with a few particles clinging to the surface that somehow escaped my infuser basket. In aroma my olfactory encounters honey and lemongrass. In flavor, i also think Sweet Dreams tastes a lot of lemongrass, but also of melon or maybe blood orange? Texture-wise, Sweet Dreams definitely feels like a tisane: thin and light with a scratchy, straw-like tingle on the roof of the mouth and the back of the throat.
In reality, Sweet Dreams is made from 100% organic Vervain (which is said to have magical properties–please cast responsibly), rose hips, lemon grass, lemon balm, orange peel, calendula and marigold petals. Usually marigold overpowers the other ingredients in a blend, but in this case, coming as the last ingredient, i can barely tell. It seems to add color moreso than anything else. In any case, these ingredients blend especially well together. Sweet Dreams is a very welcoming tisane and would be a balm for the emotionally distraught or preoccupied. I would note however, Sweet Dreams does not have the same somnolence giving ability as some of the other LODO tisanes.
