Peachy Keen White ~ TranquiliTea

Believe it or not, TranquiliTea’s Peachy Keen White was the very first White tea I tried. Years back, before Ann Arbor’s TeaHaus, Plymouth’s TranquiliTea was the only place i knew of that sold loose leaf tea in my area. In those halcyon days of 2007?, I’d never tried a White tea so i picked up a bag of their Peachy Keen White, thinking it would be a good introduction to White tea. Well… it wasn’t. But it is a great tea.

Peachy Keen White smells just like it sounds it would: a peach blossom and woodsy Pai Mutan bouquet. Owing to its chrysanthemum (which i haven’t had in a long while and am excited to drink), Peachy Keen White actually has a fascinating thin golden-rod liquor color. Flavor-wise, Peachy Keen White has a delightful floral note that quickly dissipates behind a gooey chrysanthemum and creamy white chocolate-like White Tip. In texture, a thin but ticklish Tippy heaven. It’s really kind of astonishing how many teas I’ve been exposed to over the years, and yet i still find myself taken with Peachy Keen White. Overall, Peachy Keen is quite the catch.

Mean score – 95%

Original and unique, with a score of 95% and given that I still consider it a great tea nine years later, I’d usually award TranquiliTea’s Peachy Keen White with a Best in its Class stamp of approval. However, it turns out Eli’s Peach White,  actually scored higher at 96% approval. Although they’re not very much alike, they definitely would be considered as belonging to the same class of tea. Peachy Keen White will instead get a honorable mention. In any case, it’s a terrific cup of tea.
