I’ve had Adagio once or twice before, and I’d remembered liking it, so I decided I could justify the cost and picked up a six tea sampler of theirs from TranquiliTea at some point. When i opened it later to check out the selections, I wasn’t thrilled but it could definitely be worse.
Today I’m drinking Adagio’s Citrus Green (i found it at the bottom of my bag of bagged teas i brought with me to the hospital). One thing I immediately noticed after brewing is its unique aroma. Lemon and lime notes have been blended with a more chlorophyllic Chinese Green to yield a highly enticing scent. These strong citrus flavors come through even stronger in Citrus Green’s taste. A definite upfront lemon that “references traditional ‘tea with lemon’ vocabulary” slowly gives way to a stark lime aftertaste creating a sort of mojito-like flavor. Citrus Green’s grit easily reminds me of full-leaf Chinese Greens, but the citrus helps create contrast from the expectation. Unfortunately I can’t handle much lemon as it exacerbates my IBS, so I only drank a few mouths full.
I was impressed though with how well the tea and fruit brewed out from such a small sachet.

Sorry no real tea photography for this post since I don’t have the energy (or my studio equip) here at the hospital and i wasn’t thrilled with the results of yesterday’s blog. :/ Instead… please enjoy some of my real off-the-cuff cellphone photography, complete with my ironic naming convention via a bit of cute hospital fun. xD
